Toronto, Ontario — March 20, 2019 —  After a buildup of more than three years Tesla CEO Elon Musk revealed the company’s new Model Y last week.

The new vehicle will be a cross-over of an SUV type, but the funny thing about it is it really looks nothing like a typical SUV. It appears similar in size to a typical car, except the new model can fit up to seven people.

With much anticipation about this model, Musk also revealed that the company plans on making an abundance of this model in the future.

The new model is made with 75 percent of the same parts as the Model 3 and according to Musk, it will be able to do anything the other vehicles in the Tesla fleet can do, thanks to software updates.

In the fall of 2020, the Long-Range version of the Model Y will be available for a starting price of $47,000. This Model Y will have a 300-mile range which translates to around 480 kilometres. Currently, a standard electric vehicle can only go as far as 100 to 200 miles which converts to a range of 160 to 321 kilometres. This version of the vehicle will have a top speed of 130 mph.

The Standard Range Model Y can drive to of 230 miles and a top speed of 120 mph with quick acceleration from zero to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds. Tesla will be putting the vehicle on the market for the cost of $39,000 in the spring of 2021.
