Toronto, Ontario – November 15, 2018 – More than 340 collisions occurred in a four hour timeframe yesterday, as Southern Ontario experienced its first major snowfall of the year.

Provincial police are urging drivers to slow down in wintery conditions, as even the most diligent drivers can lose control.

“Please adjust your driving, please slow down and please give yourself that extra time,” said Const. Ed Sanchuk in a video posted to Twitter.

“I’m seeing people driving in these weather conditions like it’s 90 degrees out and sunny,” he told CBC.

Over 24 collisions were reported along Middlesex Country roads since 2 p.m. Thursday; occurring in the areas of London, Middlesex Centre and Strathroy. The collisions were primarily along the 400 series.

“You can have the safest vehicle in the world but if it’s being operated in a dangerous manner, then you’re going to find yourself in trouble,” said OPP Const. Max Gomez told CBC.

No major injuries were reported as a result of the accidents.

Environment Canada has since warned motorists of the substantial snowfall that could result in dangerous driving conditions. The snow is set to die down Friday.
