Project Arrow, Round Two: APMA’s Project Arrow 2.0 portal opens for proposals

Toronto, Ontario — The Automotive Parts Manufacturers Association (APMA) has officially opened its request for proposals (RFP) portal for companies looking to participate in the second iteration of Project Arrow–dubbed Project Arrow 2.0.

Project Arrow was an all-Canadian, zero-emissions vehicle prototype unveiled publicly in early 2023. APMA established the project to demonstrate the strength of Canada’s automotive sector, particularly where the construction of zero-emissions vehicles is concerned. Project Arrow 2.0 will follow a similar scheme–though, this time, 10 to 20 vehicles will be produced, rather than the singular prototype that was born from the original Project Arrow. APMA also hopes to utilize the services of several more suppliers and educational institutions in this second iteration of the project.

According to APMA President Flavio Volpe, the first Project Arrow delivered participating suppliers $500 million in new business. Project Arrow 2.0 will follow a similar process, though Volpe says in his mind Project Arrow 2.0 will contain a series of individual vehicles displaying marvels in automotive innovation.

Alongside the announcement of the portal opening, APMA revealed that Project Arrow 2.0 is the winner of the 2024 BIG Innovation Awards.

This award, presented by the Business Intelligence Group, also comes in tandem with the official launch of the Project Arrow 2.0 RFP portal by the Automotive Parts Manufacturers’ Association (AMPA) at the 2024 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Nevada. Organizations from across the globe submitted their recent innovations for consideration in the BIG Innovation Awards. Other 2024 recipients included Goldman Sachs, IBM, Cargill, Google, TD Bank, Dow Chemical, Juniper Networks, T-Mobile and CISCO. Nominations were then judged by a select group of business leaders and executives who volunteered their time and expertise to score submissions.

In response to Project Arrow 2.0’s win, Volpe, “This is a tremendous honour and we are eager to celebrate this achievement together with our 60 supplier partners.
