Regina, Saskatchewan -- Ontario's Ethan Almeida won gold in auto body (post-secondary) at the 2025 Skills Canada National Competition in Regina.
Almeida beat out silver winner Tyler Dooling of New Brunswick and Renz Medida of Manitoba at the event, which ran from May 29 to 31.
In the secondary category, British Columbia's Sy Korf secured a first-place finish ahead of silver medalist Cole Cocquyt of Manitoba and bronze medalist Jacob Bondarenko of Ontario.
Bill Speed, one of the event's judges, said this year’s group of competitors was “one of the best."
As the winner of the post-secondary event, Almeida has also won a place on Team Canada at World Skills in Shanghai, which is set to run from September 22 to 27, 2026.
Speed, who will coach auto body at World Skills, says he has the utmost confidence in Almeida, noting that the champion benefits from a strong work ethic, three years of experience at Skills competitions and a supportive employer.
“There could even be a chance at a medal, but I don’t want to jinx anything by saying that!”
