Toronto, Ontario -- The team at Collision Repair magazine are calling on Canada's collision community to participate in a survey about labour market challenges in Canada.
In recent weeks, the magazine's staff have been left confused by two very convincing -- but contradictory -- perspectives.
In conversations with industry professionals from across Canada, the magazine's reporters have been given the impression there is a near-universal need for access to more qualified workers.
This view is bolstered by recent figures reported by Statistics Canada. According to the government agency, there are currently about 2,500 auto technician vacancies in Ontario and approximately 6,800 across Canada.
The second impression comes, primarily, from U.S. sources. Several recent reports suggest that only a minority of American bodyshops are interested in hiring over the next year, the lowest figures seen since the coronavirus pandemic.
