Rising Rates: Statistics Canada reveals increase of 0.93 percent in automotive repair and maintenance employment between January and October, 2024

Ottawa, Canada — As noted in Statistics Canada’s recent update of the employment and average weekly earnings within the automotive repair sector, automotive repair technician employment increased by 0.93 percent between January and October, 2024.

Specifically, when looking at Statistics Canada’s raw data, between January and October, 2024, employment records in automotive repair and maintenance increased from approximately 121,377 individuals nationally to 122,510.

Additionally, when looking at the average weekly earnings within the automotive repair and maintenance sector, income also increased within this same period from $1,076.30 to $1,111.71.

This difference represents an increase of 3.28 percent.
