Not Tough Enough: Approx. 450 F-150s, Transits damaged in Missouri train derailment

Toronto, Ontario — If you’re looking for the new F-150 that was supposed to be shipped to you this week, try a ditch in northeastern Missouri—that’s where a train full of them derailed on Aug. 2, leaving about 450 new trucks bound for dealerships in a state of disrepair.

The incident was brought to light by the Missouri Highway Patrol, who in their initial statement reported that the derailed train had been carrying new F-150s and Transit vans departing from Ford’s assembly plant in Claycomo, Mo. No one was seriously injured in the accident.

This incident serves as a further derailment of an auto industry already in dire need of inventory; unfortunately this time the derailment was literal.

The automaker is already reeling from flooding suffered at the Dearborn, Mich. plant in June, which caused delays to F-150 and Bronco production.
