The 8th edition of Automechanika Ho Chi Minh City closed on June 20, drawing nearly 18,000 visitors and spotlighting Vietnam’s accelerating push toward electrification alongside a rapidly expanding automotive aftermarket ecosystem.
The three-day trade fair welcomed 410 exhibitors from 17 countries and regions across 18,100 square metres at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center, with 17,927 visitors from 50 countries and regions attending. Organizers reported strong ASEAN participation, alongside international buyers and decision-makers from across Asia, Europe and the Americas.
Electric vehicle development was a defining theme throughout the event, with BYD Oway, GAC and VinFast among the automakers showcasing new EV models and delivering more than 180 test drives in the outdoor area.
“The exhibits and range of activities over the show floor have perfectly reflected the strength of Vietnam’s automotive industry and its standing within ASEAN,” said Akai Lin, overseas director of Yorkers Exhibition Service Vietnam, one of the organizers. “Guided by the theme of a new era of electrification, this year’s exhibition has helped accelerate the industry by elevating local skills, introducing ground-breaking technologies, and engaging a vast, diverse audience.”
Lin added the fair continues to act as a blueprint for investment and collaboration in Vietnam’s evolving automotive landscape, particularly as electrification reshapes supply chains and local partnerships.
Across the show floor, exhibitors represented the full value chain from OEMs to aftermarket suppliers, with product categories spanning parts and components, electrics and electronics, diagnostics and repair, connectivity, autonomous driving systems, and tyre services for both electric and combustion vehicles.
Fringe programming featured 27 activities, including a collision repair training workshop and the Automotive Mobility Solutions Conference, which together drew more than 700 attendees and focused on workforce development, green mobility investment and digital transformation in automotive systems.
“The sessions provide the training needed to master emerging technologies,” said Mr Tran Anh Tuan of Liqui Moly, who led training at the collision repair workshop. “With the influx of new emissions standards, environmental regulations, and advanced EVs, continuous education is essential.”
At the conference level, industry leaders explored broader structural shifts in the sector.
“We explored the massive structural shifts reshaping the automotive supply chain, specifically examining how new regulations, technologies, and electrification are colliding,” said Dr Long Viet Nguyen, partner in consulting at Ernst & Young Vietnam. “Open platforms like Automechanika Ho Chi Minh City are incredibly valuable for introducing these complex topics and helping the industry keep pace with the green transition.”
Business matching sessions facilitated 50 meetings between buyers and suppliers, reinforcing Vietnam’s growing position as a regional hub for automotive manufacturing and distribution.
Attendee feedback reflected the event’s expanding cross-sector appeal, particularly around emerging technologies such as AI and autonomous systems.
“As an AI professional and avid car enthusiast, I came here to explore the correlation developing between AI and the automotive world, particularly around autonomous driving,” said Mr Dao Gia Tuan, an attendee at the Automotive Mobility Solutions Conference. “The conference has given me an interesting perspective on the depth of the industry and has helped me learn and discover these emerging technologies first-hand.”
Interactive programming under AutoFEST@HCMC added a cultural dimension to the trade fair, featuring drift and stunt demonstrations, music programming and aftermarket showcases aimed at both industry participants and consumers.
Organizers confirmed the next edition of Automechanika Ho Chi Minh City will take place from June 16 to 18, 2027.
