Snap-on Inc. is acquiring Diesel Laptops in a US$100 million cash deal, adding a heavy-duty diagnostics and repair information business to its repair systems and information group.
The Kenosha, Wis.-based Snap-on, a manufacturer and marketer of tools, equipment, diagnostics, repair information and systems for the automotive aftermarket, announced the deal in a statement released on June 9.
Diesel Laptops is based in Irmo, S.C., and specializes in diagnostics, repair information and digital solutions for commercial trucks and off-highway vehicles. Its customers include heavy-duty repair shops, fleets and equipment customers in sectors such as mining, agriculture and infrastructure.
Diesel Laptops’ Diesel Repair platform includes wiring diagrams, fault-code directions, remove-and-replace information, technical repair documents, labour times, testing procedures, parts information and VIN decoding. The business also provides diagnostic tools, parts resources and technician training for commercial truck and equipment service.
The acquisition follows Diesel Laptops’ February 2025 acquisition of Preteckt, which added remote vehicle monitoring, predictive artificial intelligence, machine learning and predictive maintenance capabilities.
Snap-on generated sales of US$4.7 billion in 2025. Its products and services are sold through franchisee vans, direct sales and distributor channels.
