NETS Drug-Impaired Driving Campaign Now Available

VIENNA, Va.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The Network of Employers for Traffic Safety (NETS) has released a new Drug-Impaired Driving website developed by NETS through a cooperative agreement with NHTSA. The campaign toolkit, geared toward employers, addresses an issue that has not only become a primary concern for traffic safety professionals, but also a major concern for employers.

Drug-impaired driving is defined as the operation of a motor vehicle while under the influence of or impaired by ANY type of drug including illicit substances, and some over-the-counter (OTC) medications. Taking multiple drugs resulting in different drug interactions can also cause impairment.

The campaign toolkit includes a number of valuable concepts and proven solutions to educate employers and prevent drug-impaired driving in the workplace. For maximum impact, the toolkit is organized into 5 essential components comprised of the following core elements: the dangers of drug-impaired driving; prevalence of drug-impaired driving; drug-impaired driving laws in the U.S.; methods of detection; and how to prevent drug-impaired driving in the workplace.

The website and accompanying materials can be accessed at https://drugfreedrivingatwork.org/.
