Toronto, Ontario – All Rolls-Royce vehicles after 2030 will be built as all-electric vehicles (EVs), according to a recent statement by the company’s CEO.
In an interview with British news outlet Autocar, Torsten Müller-Ötvös, CEO of Rolls-Royce, says that “by the end of 2030, there will be no more V12. Series 2 cars will be V12, brand new Rolls-Royces always be electric.”
He elaborates that the company would not launch hybrid models, moving straight to electric engines rather than adapting the V12 petrol engine.
While no launch dates have been committed to paper yet, Müller-Ötvös warns that the next EV will likely arrive in ten years or later–current offerings like the Phantom, Ghost and Cullinan will continue using V12s.
According to Autocar, Rolls-Royce announced record sales of just over 6000 cars in 2022, with average prices going beyond €500,000 for the first time thanks to increased personalisation: the equivalent of CAD$717,000.
