Diversity and Inclusion: More to be done, say panelists at Empowering Auto Conference

Toronto, Ontario — More than 200 people attended Hyundai Auto Canada’s (HAC) Empowering Auto Conference last Tuesday, which aimed to promote the hiring and retention of women in the automotive industry.

Panellists came from multiple organizations inside and outside the auto industry to speak with executives from OEMs including Hyundai, Volkswagen and Volvo.

These sessions focused on a wide range of issues confronting the auto industry, from disruptions in online retailing, electric and connected vehicles, to how to build high performing teams and leaders.

“Empowering Auto was a fantastic opportunity to have voices from around the industry come together under one roof with a shared goal,” said Brittany Cramer, product planning manager for Volkswagen Canada in an interview with Automotive News Canada.

Empowering Auto Conference began in 2019 at a half-day breakfast conference hosted by the employee resource group, Women@HAC. It continues to be a growing annual conference open to the general public.
