School support: CARSTAR Red Deer locations collect student supplies

Rebels Game

Two CARSTAR collision repair facilities have completed a four-week school supply drive for students across Red Deer.

CARSTAR Red Deer and CARSTAR Red Deer South collected backpacks, notebooks, pencils and other supplies from customers, employees and community members. The facilities are owned by Darryl Hemstreet and Brian Hemstreet.

The businesses also contributed $500 in school supplies and partnered with the Red Deer Rebels to collect donations during the hockey team’s annual Intrasquad Game.

The supplies were donated to Red Deer Public Schools for distribution to students and families through family liaison counsellors. The school division operates 22 schools.

“The response to this campaign was incredible,” said Darryl Hemstreet. “Knowing these supplies will be distributed throughout the school district and help students across Red Deer start the school year prepared and confident makes this initiative especially meaningful.”

CARSTAR is a network of independently owned collision repair facilities with more than 800 locations across Canada and the United States.
