TPA UNVEILS 500TH EV CHANGING STATION

Screenshot 2025 12 29 At 7 54 30 PmThe Toronto Parking Authority and Toronto Hydro have energized their 500th electric vehicle charging station, marking a milestone for what is now North America’s largest municipally owned EV charging network. The newest charger, located at Green P Carpark 504, went live on Nov. 5 and contributes to the more than 3,000 public charging stations across Toronto. TPA has led the network’s expansion since taking ownership in 2023, following Toronto Hydro’s installation and operation of the initial stations. “Purposeful expansion of our EV network is a catalyst for EV adoption across Toronto,” said TPA president Scott Collier. Toronto Hydro CEO Jana Mosley said reaching 500 stations reflects the strength of the partnership, noting the utility will connect more than 4,000 chargers at buildings and homes this year.

Another $1.4 million will fund a University of New Brunswick project developing magnetic materials for improved EV-motor performance. Officials said the investment will expand charging access, strengthen domestic innovation and help Canadians choose electric with confidence.
