Las Vegas, Nevada — October 31, 2017 — The excitement at the 2017 SEMA Show kicked off the morning of October 31 with the Best New Products Award banquet.
SEMA’s annual New Product Awards competition recognizes outstanding achievements in the development of products being introduced to the automotive specialty-equipment market at the SEMA Show. Products are judged in 16 award categories, and each category has one winner and two runners-up.
Nearly 3,000 products were entered into the 16 different Showcase categories to be considered for the SEMA New Product Awards this year. Winners were selected based on a variety of factors that included superiority of innovation, technical achievement, quality and workmanship, consumer appeal and marketability, and more. The full list of award winners can be seen at the bottom of this article, but some categories deserve special mention.
ALLDATA Collision Advantage won first place in the 2017 SEMA New Products Showcase Awards for “Collision Repair and Refinish.”
ALLDATA Collision Advantage bundles the power of ALLDATA Collision with the protection of Estimate Integration. The company said: “Now service writers and technicians can get OEM-accurate estimates the first time and help limit their shop’s liability.”
Runners-up in the Collision Repair and Refinish Product were MiG Buddy for its GeorgeB Design, MiG Buddy Welding Gun Holder. The company focuses on making the welding life of a technician “safer and easier.”
Avery Dennison, was also a runner up in the category for its Supreme Wrapping Film Metallic Series.
The winning product in the Tools and Equipment category was the the EZ Pulley, while Huth Ben Pearson International finished runner-up for its Huth Manual Rod Bender HMRB6017, as well as Autolift Production for its Smart Painting Table.
Meanwhile, Westin Automotive won first place in the Exterior Accessory product for its HDX LED Grille product.
Of particular interest during the event was a special appearance by former Indy racing League driver and current Verizon Indycar Series and Firestone Indy Lights series team owner, Sam Schmidt. Schmidt talked at length about his disability and the progress he’s made in recent years with Arrow Electronics.
