EV Exposure: Netflix and GM tap Will Ferrell for super bowl ad aimed at EV visibility

Toronto, Ontario — American football’s biggest day is this Sunday, and one of the biggest faces in American comedy is leading the charge on a General Motors electric vehicle (EV) ad, scheduled to run during halftime.

Last seen in a super bowl ad declaring an EV war on Norway, actor Will Ferrell is back for another featured spot with General Motors, this time with the twist that Netflix will specifically feature GM EVs in its TV series and movies going forward.

To illustrate this, Ferrell can be seen driving through the sets of various original Netflix titles, getting bit by a zombie from “Army of the Dead,” kidnapped by the henchmen from “Squid Game” and reprimanded by Erica from “Stranger Things.”

Speaking toward what could be interpreted interchangeably as fun positive messaging or subliminal EV propaganda, chief marketing officer of Netflix, Marian Lee said “GM is a cultural leader in the auto industry and we are proud to partner with them in their efforts by amplifying the presence of electric vehicles in our shows and films.”
