People, performance and a decade of growth.

Fix 1920x1080

Lana Moritz transitioned from a banking career to become CFO and owner of Fix Auto Moritz Group, a multi-location collision repair business built on teamwork, family values, and a commitment to quality. Her people-first philosophy and focus on customer experience have driven the company's growth to five locations while maintaining high repair standards and employee satisfaction.

  • Career Transition: Lana Moritz left banking to join her husband Andy in the collision repair business, leading to a complete career transformation.
  • Multi-Location Operation: Fix Auto Moritz Group now operates four Fix Auto locations (Calgary Deerfoot, Drayton Valley, Strathmore, and High River) plus NOVUS Glass Calgary Deerfoot.
  • 10-Year Milestone: Fix Auto Calgary Deerfoot celebrates its 10th anniversary, marking significant growth and success.
  • Core Philosophy: Lana's approach emphasizes teamwork, family values, quality repairs, customer communication, and employee development through open-door policies and regular team activities.
  • Technology & Training: The business invests in advanced equipment (frame straightening, glue pulling systems) and certifications (Gold Class, CCC) to maintain OEM standards and adapt to increasingly complex vehicles.

Image2The path into collision repair is rarely predictable. For some, it’s their birthright. For others it begins with a lifelong passion for vehicles. For Lana Moritz, CFO and owner of Fix Auto Moritz Group, it began in banking. “I worked in the banking industry for years,” she explains. “My husband [Andy] and I always had a strong desire to work together. After a major life change, I made the decision to step away from banking and join the shop full time.”

What followed was more than a career change. It was a transformation that would eventually lead to the growth of a multi-location operation and a leadership role. Today, Lana’s philosophy, rooted in teamwork, family values and a commitment to quality, influences how employees and customers experience the business. “We want to be the best in the markets we serve,” she says. “That means focusing on quality repairs, but also on how customers feel throughout the process.” As customer expectations continue to evolve, this dual focus has become increasingly important. Beyond technical precision, customers want communication, transparency and confidence that their vehicle is being handled with care.

That mindset is reflected in Moritz’s open-door policy, which encourages employees to share ideas and feedback, while regular activities help reinforce connection and build morale. As she explains, “we always try to foster a positive and supportive work environment. Whether it’s team outings or simply making space for conversations, it’s important that people feel heard.”

Lana has “always believed in teamwork and the value of family. We use these family values daily to run our collision shops and value the people that make up our teams,” she said. This approach has profoundly shaped how the business has grown. What began as a shared goal between husband and wife has expanded into a family-run operation that now includes their son, along with employees who are treated like extended family.

That spirit of collaboration also influenced a major milestone in the company’s growth. “We were independent before joining Fix Auto, but we were looking for a partner to help us grow,” Moritz says, adding the “partnership has been instrumental in our success.” She values the opportunity to connect with fellow franchisees, exchange ideas and learn from others facing similar challenges. “It’s not just the resources. It’s the network. Knowing you have support at every level, and that you can learn from others who are facing the same challenges, makes a big difference.”

Today, the Fix Auto Moritz Group comprises four Fix Auto locations (Fix Auto Calgary Deerfoot, Fix Auto Drayton Valley, Fix Auto Strathmore and Fix Auto High River) and NOVUS Glass Calgary Deerfoot. As the group celebrates the 10th anniversary of Fix Auto Calgary Deerfoot, the achievement serves as both a reflection of how far the business has come and a foundation for its next chapter of growth. For Lana, it is also a reminder of the dedication of the employees, customers and industry partners who have contributed to that success over the past decade.

As vehicles become more complex, collision repair centres must adapt. Lana’s people-first philosophy has also influenced how the business approaches training, technology and repair quality. She continually invests in both her people and in the technology upon which they rely. Supporting ongoing training and professional development remains an important part of that commitment, ensuring employees have the knowledge and tools needed to keep pace with an increasingly complex industry. “We’re always eager to learn more about new technology and how to apply it to our repairs,” she says. “It’s about delivering the best possible experience and ensuring quality.”

Recent upgrades include advanced frame straightening equipment and glue pulling systems designed to improve efficiency and reduce cycle time. They have also prioritized certifications, including Gold Class and CCC, to ensure every repair meets OEM standards. “We’ve invested in equipment and certifications because it matters. It’s about doing the job right.”

Growth remains part of the long-term vision, with Lana and Andy continuing to explore additional opportunities within Fix Network. “We’re always looking at ways to expand and improve,” she says. “There’s always something to learn, and always a next step.”

While much has changed since she first entered the industry, the values that guide Lana’s approach have remained remarkably consistent. From her perspective, the formula is simple: “Take care of your people. Take pride in your work. The rest follows.”
