Huntsville, Ontario — Friends and partners of CSN Collision Centres continued the network’s annual conference on Friday, where attendees enjoyed a portfolio of inspirational speakers and a lavish awards dinner.

Thursday’s Vendor Showcase ran late into the night, but attendees were back in the main hall on Friday morning to kickstart a full day of speaker presentations. First on the stage was inspirational speaker and diversity, equity and inclusion advocate Risha Grant, who asked the crowd to reveal their B.S.—bias synapse: i.e., where you make your unconscious judgements against certain characteristics or traits.

Next on the stage was restaurant entrepreneur Michel Falcon, who delved deep into his company’s people-centric culture. In an industry where staff turnover is between 100 percent and 150 percent year-to-date, Falcon has managed to whittle his company’s turnover rate to less than 15 percent. He delivered some of his people first, product second ideologies, which have paid off for his uber-fast-growing company.

Falcon’s analysis on the three types of customer—the director, the James Bond quiet type; the social, who chit chats away; and the passive—was met with much reception from the crowd, who surely took away a few tips on recruitment and retention tactics.

After lunch, Peter Kalantzis and Tara Willoughby of Aviva Canada delivered an ESG update, where they broke down the sources for Aviva’s emissions and discussed the emissions produced in the collision repair claims process. Did you know that 86 percent of emissions generated in an auto claim are derived from the supplier (scope 3) segment?

It was all about basketball following the afternoon break—wheelchair basketball, that is, as multi-medal-winning wheelchair basketball player Patrick Anderson took the stage. He told an inspirational story about finding his love for wheelchair basketball and even let the crowd see his Athens, Beijing and London Paralympic medals.

Juno-nominated musician Peter Katz closed out the afternoon’s speaking sessions with a private concert and some stories on his experience on making it as a musician.

The evening featured a cocktail hour, delicious dinner and a host of award announcements for CSN network shops. Check out our photos and see the award winners below!
