Cracks in the Line: Hyundai recalls nearly 300,000 vehicles for corroded brake lines

Toronto, Ontario — Transport Canada has issued a recall on 295,777 Hyundai vehicles following a warning from the OEM that brake lines under the vehicle could corrode, reducing braking power and increasing the risk of a crash.

Affected models include the 2011 to 2016 Elantra and Equus, 2009 to 2014 Genesis, 2010 to 2016 Genesis Coupe, 2012 to 2017 Veloster, 2013 to 2018 Santa Fe and 2010 to 2011 Tucson.

Owners of the recalled vehicles will be notified in the mail to get their vehicle’s underbody inspected by a dealer, and potentially have an anti-corrosion treatment applied to certain parts and replacing corroded brake lines.
