Toronto, Ontario — Organizers of the 2023 Montreal International Auto Show (MIAS) are assuring prospective attendees that the show will go on, as supply chain disruptions putting strain on OEM inventories have many automakers skipping out on this year’s auto show season, with Calgary forced to call off its event altogether.
“To date, the show will feature between 70 percent and 75 percent of the makes and models in the top 10 sales in Quebec,” said MIAS general manager Luis Pereira.
“We are aware that the automotive industry is going through a period of upheaval, but we are convinced that we will present a Show that is worth the detour! The shortage and lack of inventory due to generalized problems in the supply chain are affecting the entire industry and also our Show. So some manufacturers will be absent, but those who will be with us are very excited to showcase their products to enthusiasts.”
The Montreal show’s counterparts in Toronto, Vancouver and Quebec City will be going ahead this year, but the Montreal show will come without the attendance of major OEMs like Ford, Lincoln, Mazda, Honda and Mitsubishi, nor any German manufacturers.
Montreal’s show will also be presented on a notably smaller scale than in the past, as organizers have planned to occupy only the second level of the Palais des congrès, which makes up about two-thirds of the space used for the 2020 show.
The 2023 Montreal International Auto Show, as well as the meeting of the Montreal Automobile Dealers Corporation (MADC), is set to run from Jan. 20 to 29.
