Ace in the Hole: Toyota to return to full production levels by end of December

Toronto, Ontario — Toyota has announced that they expect to be back at full production at all of their facilities by the end of the year, baffling the rest of the industry as to how the Japanese automaker is pulling ahead amid a global microchip shortage.

Toyota’s head office issued a press release earlier this month to say that they plan to be back up to 800,000-unit production levels at all 14 of their plants, by the end of December.

The company reported that production volumes were at approximately 760,000 units in December of 2020 and that they will maintain their forecast of nine million units produced for this fiscal year.

Toyota had been at reduced production levels since May but seems to have found a solution to the parts and materials shortages that are leaving much of their competition at a standstill.
