Windsor, Ontario — September 3, 2018 — This Labour Day, Collision Repair has taken a look at the cost of labour around the country and discovered that, for the first time, the average collision repair technician will clear $60,000-per-annum in 2019.

According to Living in Canada, an independent organization which tracks the wages of particular fields of work in each of Canada’s provinces, vehicle repairers and technicians earned an average of about $59,500 in 2018. Based on last year’s numbers, and the Bank of Canada’s inflation forecasts for this year, it can be predicted that the salary will sit at around $62,100 next year.

While this may be true as an average taken from accross the country, in some regions, repairers are significantly better paid than in others. At about $75,000-a-year, or $37-per-hour, Alberta’s high wages may cause some repair professionals to consider moseying out west. Shop owners, however, might consider heading east with the news that the average wage in Prince Edward Island comes in at just $36,000, or about $18-per-hour.
