Hamilton, Ontario — December 22, 2015 — CARSTAR stores throughout the Durham Region kicked off the Christmas season with a special event in support of the United Way of Durham. Six Durham Region CARSTAR locations, along with Enterprise Rent-A-Car and Discount Car and Truck Rentals, came together to present a refurbished 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan to the United Way of Durham at the Oshawa Generals home game on Sunday, as part of CARSTAR’s ongoing Community Power Play campaign.
“The Durham Region CARSTAR locations are excited to support the United Way of Durham in any way they can,” says Collin Welsh, CARSTAR Canada Regional Development Manager. “We strive to ‘give where we live’ and truly believe the programs and services offered by the United Way of Durham are positively changing the lives of those in need throughout our community.”
The van will be used by the United Way of Durham to provide various programs and services including the current “Christmas Hamper” program which delivers families in need with groceries, gift cards, personal items and age appropriate toys for children.
The CARSTAR Community Power Play festivities kicked off on Saturday, December 19 for a family skate with Oshawa Generals’ players and Deke, the Oshawa Generals’ mascot. The celebration continued on Sunday, December 20 for the van presentation to the United Way followed by the Oshawa Generals’ game against the Sudbury Wolves.
