Toronto, Ontario -- The Certified Automotive Parts Association is warning of a rise in counterfeit certification marks appearing on replacement parts sold on e-commerce platforms.
These unauthorized marks are meant to deceive buyers into believing the parts meet CAPA's standards. The organization says it is actively investigating these infringements and is working to identify and halt unauthorized uses of its certification marks.
CAPA is also reaching out to e-commerce platforms to address the issue directly and plans to issue public notices on its website to inform the industry about specific violations.
Those concerned about the veracity of parts purchased online should look for the distinctive yellow and blue CAPA Seal. The CAPA website offers resources to confirm the legitimacy of parts using the serial number appearing on the mark.
