Saskatoon, Saskatchewan — Attention, prairie repairers! It’s your last chance to register for the Saskatchewan Association of Automotive Repairers (SAAR) September Conference and Trade Show, which will be held next week at the Dakota Dunes Resort in Saskatoon.
The annual fall event will start on Thursday with a golf tournament at Dakota Dunes, followed by an evening banquet from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Friday is jam-packed with activities, starting with the highly acclaimed Dave Luehr of Elite Bodyshop Solutions, who will give his tips on becoming the employer of choice in your market. Ryan Mandell from Mitchell International will follow Luehr to deliver industry insights based on Mitchell’s recent findings in Canadian claims.
Saskatchewan Government Insurance (SGI) will take the stage next, where the public insurer’s reps are set to discuss updates and make a “major announcement to help our industry with the current labour shortage,” teased Tom Bissonnette, director of SAAR.
Collision Repair magazine’s own EV Repair Tour presentation, featuring Kim Kos of Kavia Auto Body and Scott Kucharyshen of Saskatchewan Polytechnic, will close out the speaker portion of the day.
The SAAR trade show will open around 1:30 p.m. at the Prairieland Park, Hall E, complete with X exhibitors and rooms for private conference training with AutoHouse Technologies, Bodyshop Connect, Clarity Coaching and 3M.
Sask Polytech plans to bring along its students to network with the trade show crowd and compete for tools in a series of skills contests. There’s also an estimating challenge, VR painting and VR welding planned for the afternoon event.
The trade show will wrap after dinner at 7:30 p.m. when attendees can take shuttles back to the Dakota Dunes for a karaoke afterparty.
There are currently more than 250 people registered for Friday’s events, said Bissonnette.
