Markham, Ontario — August 10, 2015 — Discount Car & Truck Rentals held its annual charity golf tournament on Friday, August 7 at Angus Glen Golf Club in Markham, Ont. Insurance partners, collision repairers and auto manufacturers were in attendance to play golf and help Discount Car & Truck Rentals meet its fundraising goals.
The tournament raised funds in support of the Chase McEachern Tribute Fund, which campaigns to place Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) in schools, hockey arenas, and other public places. To date, the Fund has placed over 12,000 AEDs in schools and other community venues across the country.
“We try to raise funds to help them continue doing their work and increase that number,” says Paul Nestorowich of Discount Car and Truck Rentals. “We get great support from our industry partners, including insurers, repairers, representatives of the networks and the OEs. The Fund also receives support from the Live Auction event that we run at the tournament.”
Two items in particular stood out at this year’s Live Auction. Edwin Encarnacion of the Toronto Blue Jays donated a signed jersey, and the Toronto Raptors donated a jersey signed by the entire 2014/2015 team.
