Glen Mills, Pennsylvania — November 10, 2014 — Axalta Coating Systems launched their Automotive Colour of the Year 2015 during the 2014 SEMA Show.

The colour—Radiant Red—debuted Nov. 5 at the Las Vegas Convention Centre on the No. 24 Axalta Chevrolet SS driven by four-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Jeff Gordon. The paint scheme is set to grace the track at the Phoenix International Raceway on Nov. 9, when Gordon competes in the 2014 Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Eliminator Round.

Gordon joined Ray Evernham, three-time NASCAR champion crew chief and host of Velocity’s Americarna, at the Engineered for Speed booth to help make the announcement.

“This is an exciting time for both Axalta and our racing team, and I’m glad that I was able to be here to help Axalta reveal its 2015 colour of the year,” says Gordon. “It’s going to be great to have it on the No. 24 car this weekend.

“Fans really seem to like the Brilliant Flames paint scheme that we revealed in January, and I think they will like this Radiant Red variation, too.”

Radiant Red is created with Axalta’s Cromax Mosaic paint line. The red hue also contains Axalta’s Vermeera high chroma technology and a sparkle effect. Based on the company’s annual Global Automotive 2014 Color Popularity Report’s research, the colour red has been among the top five most popular colours since 2010, and grew by 3 percent in 2013.

“We created this campaign to share our colour expertise in another format that resonates with both our automotive original equipment manufacturer customers, refinish and custom painters and the consumer,” says Axalta Vice President and head of its North American business, Nigel Budden.  â€œRadiant Red is a vibrant, head-turning hue and the No. 24 Axalta Chevrolet SS wears it well.”
