Volvo Car Canada appoints new managing director

Toronto, Ontario – April 15, 2019 – Volvo Car Canada has appointed Matt Girgis as its new managing director.

Girgis joined the Volvo Car Corporation in 2008 and most recently served as controller car operations and deputy head of finance Volvo Car, Americas region. Previously, Girgis spent three years with Volvo Car Canada as the controller and head of finance before moving to Volvo Cars Americas Region. Prior to joining Volvo, he held several positions at BMW Canada in network and finance.

“The Volvo brand has seen strong growth in Canada thanks to the award-winning product range and a strong performance by the Canadian retailers,” said Girgis. “I’m excited to return home to Canada and will focus on continuing the momentum while making our retailer network stronger and more profitable.”

Alexander Lvovich, who has been managing director since March 2016, will complete his assignment and return to Rockleigh, New Jersey. Under Lvovich’s leadership, Volvo Car Canada has doubled sales in the past three years. “I would like to thank Alexander for his leadership in Canada,” said Anders Gustafsson, president, and CEO, Volvo Car USA.  “I would also like to congratulate Matt on his new role.”
