Toronto, Ontario -- Solera and AkzoNobel Vehicle Refinish have announced a new partnership aimed at bringing emissions transparency to the collision repair process.
The two companies say their integrated solution will allow repairers and insurers to understand the environmental impact of materials and processes on a job-by-job basis, using CO₂ tracking tools powered by Solera’s Sustainable Estimatics platform.
“This is a key step in delivering our sustainability ambition,” said Ignacio Román Navarro, business director of AkzoNobel vehicle refinish EMEA. “By helping bodyshops choose the right coating systems that combine faster process times with lower energy consumption, we’re reducing carbon emissions while supporting business profitability.”
According to Solera, the system draws from AkzoNobel’s technical data on refinishing products and drying processes, measuring key emissions sources like spray booth cycle times, temperature settings, and volatile organic compound content. The goal is to give repairers the tools to make environmentally conscious decisions without compromising repair quality or productivity.
“By combining Solera’s data-driven Sustainable Estimatics with AkzoNobel’s coatings expertise, we’re unlocking the ability to understand CO₂ emissions at a deeper, process-specific level,” said Ana Izquierdo, Solera’s global head of data. “This not only supports sustainability efforts but also strengthens business performance for both bodyshops and insurers.”
The announcement is aligned with AkzoNobel’s stated goal of halving carbon emissions across its value chain by 2030, and comes as businesses worldwide prepare to meet new corporate sustainability reporting standards. While currently available in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa region, it is expected to be rolled out globally within the next year.
