Toronto, Ontario -- Allstate says an email circulating among repair shops, which suggested a fixed-price agreement with asTech and Opus IVS for ADAS calibrations, does not reflect any actual agreement.

In response to an article in Repairer Driven News about the email, Allstate told the publication that the figures in the message are not part of any contractual arrangement.

In the earlier article, the trade publication had reported that the email, reportedly sent by an Allstate staffer, listed “final allowable cost” figures for static and dynamic ADAS calibrations, implying fixed pricing with the vendors.

In its response, the insurer also noted that asTech and Opus IVS are approved providers in its Good Hands® Repair Network, a program of vetted repair shops and suppliers, but they are not preferred providers with set rates.

The situation mirrors a June incident involving Driven Brands and Farmers Insurance, in which a similar email implied binding rates. The insurer later insisted that no such agreement existed. The rates listed in the Allstate email also match those GEICO introduced in January for calibrations via asTech and Protech.

Other insurers have moved to standardize ADAS calibration billing. GEICO updated its pricing in January, while State Farm has introduced cost limits and recommended provider policies for its Select Service shops.

Collision Repair Magazine reached out to Opus IVS and asTech for comment; as of publication, no response had been received from either organization. Allstate told the publication that repair facilities should continue billing ADAS calibrations according to standard practices and actual costs, rather than treating the email’s figures as binding.
