An American auto glass distributor is expanding its presence in Canada through the acquisition of a Canadian auto glass business.
PGW Auto Glass has acquired Alberta Windshield Surgeons' eight locations, which are located in Edmonton, Red Deer and Calgary. The Pennsylvannia.-based automotive replacement glass distributor announced the deal June 24. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Windshield Surgeons has operated since 1989 and has fixed more than two million vehicles in Edmonton, Red Deer, Calgary and Sherwood Park. The Alberta business provides windshield replacement, windshield repair, side and back glass replacement, side mirror replacement and advanced driver assistance system calibration.
“Windshield Surgeons is a strong strategic fit for PGW as we continue to grow our Canadian business,” said Todd Fencak, CEO of PGW. “This acquisition allows us to build on an established local operation while expanding our ability to serve customers with installation, calibration and wholesale distribution solutions.”
The deal follows PGW’s 2024 acquisition of PH Vitres d’Autos, a Sainte-Perpétue, Que.-based auto glass wholesale, retail installation and calibration business with 22 locations in Quebec, Ontario, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.
PGW distributes automotive replacement glass, specialty parts, shop accessories and business technology tools. It operates more than 160 distribution, installation, calibration and paint branches in the U.S. and Canada.
PGW is owned by One Equity Partners, a New York-based private equity firm that bought the business from LKQ in 2022.
“We look forward to welcoming the Windshield Surgeons team to PGW and building on the strong foundation they have created,” said Fencak. “This acquisition reflects our continued commitment to investing in people, capabilities, and markets that support the future of automotive glass in Canada.”
