Porsche launches per-mile auto insurance in US

Toronto, Ontario — June 25, 2019 – Porsche drivers in Oregon and Illinois will now be able to receive auto insurance specific to their needs with the new launch of Porsche Auto Insurance. The big question, will Canada be far behind?

“Porsche customers deserve an insurance product that fits their lifestyle and their Porsche,” stated Fred Blumer, CEO of Mile Auto. “Mile Auto is excited to partner with Porsche Financial Services in delivering a product worthy of the Porsche Crest.”

Mile Auto is a pay-per-mile insurance company.

According to Sebastien Blanco of Car and Driver much like Mile Auto, “[Porsche Auto Insurance] calculates your cost based on a picture of your odometer. Porsche is highlighting the privacy angle of the service.”

The unique part about the insurance offer is that customers simply submit an image of their odometer instead of using an “always-on” insurance app.

Porsche wants to eliminate any invasive element and give customers a sense of privacy.

Currently, the offer is only extended to Oregon and Illinois, however Porsche Auto Insurance has reported that they plan on extending their offer to other states. There has been no report as to whether this offer will extend to Porsche drivers in Canada as well.
