Bye to Boutin: Volkswagen Canada President, CEO Pierre Boutin departs role

boutin

Toronto, Ontario — Pierre Boutin, the president and CEO of Volkswagen Group Canada, announced last week that he is leaving the company after almost four years to pursue a new challenge in Europe.

Boutin’s notable achievements with Volkswagen Group Canada include securing a $7 billion investment agreement for an electric battery vehicle plant in St. Thomas, Ontario, and introducing Volkswagen’s first fully-electric SUV, the ID.4, to the Canadian market.

According to Volkswagen, Boutin’s bilingualism proved invaluable during negotiations, allowing him to advocate for Canada within the Volkswagen organization. Despite facing challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic and supply shortages, Boutin’s leadership was highly regarded by industry professionals. The OEM says dealers praised his people-first approach and his commitment to building a strong relationship between the brand and its dealers.

Volkswagen has yet to announce his replacement or his new role.

While details about Boutin’s new challenge in Europe remain undisclosed, he says he is eager to explore new opportunities and continue making valuable contributions in collaboration with talented individuals.
