Panelists announced for SEMA’s scanning sessions

The OEM Collision Repair Technology Summit is part of the Repairer Driven Education series at the 2016 SEMA Show.

Prosser, Washington — September 23, 2016 — The Society of Collision Repair Specialists (SCRS) has announced additional details on the morning session of the OEM Collision Repair Technology Summit taking place at the 2016 SEMA Show. The 2016 SEMA Show will take place November 1 to 4 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

The session will focus on emerging trends in vehicle construction and technology, and how those aspects influence vehicle repairability. In particular, the session will discuss how vehicle technology and function advancements meet consumer expectations for safety, convenience and luxury options, and the role of diagnosing accident and repair related failures in the systems. Restoring the functions, calibrating sensors and documenting the restoration of the technological elements in the vehicle become a pivotal part of the repair process.

Moderator John Ellis of Ellis & Associates will lead a two-part panel to explore the responsibilities expected of the collision repair providers and solutions available for the industry to fulfill those tasks. This session will feature two panels, one comprised of automakers and the other comprised of diagnostic equipment and service providers.  
Participants for the automakers panel are drawn from OEMs with documented positions on the necessity of pre and post-repair scans. In general, the panle will discuss the technological developments that have led to the need for thorough scanning. The panel will include John Hughes of FCA, Justin Miller of Nissan North America, Chris Tobie of American Honda and Eric Mendoza of Toyota.
