Calibration Co-ordination: CIECA releases new industry calibration standards

ciecaadas

Toronto, Ontario – CIECA has completed the 2020R2 Release calibration standards for the collision repair industry, according to a press release issued Wednesday.

These new calibration standards set out by CIECA were developed by their Calibration Committee and will establish a new standard for ADAS calibration across the U.S.

“With the rise of ADAS technologies in vehicles today, it is necessary to calibrate the sensors as part of the repair,” said CIECA’s technical project manager/business analyst, Paulette Reed.

“The industry identified the need to exchange this information among industry partners in the supply chain, and as a result, new standards were created by the CIECA Calibration Committee.”

CIECA’s Calibration Committee was formed in January of 2019 and is comprised of repairers, insurers, information providers, OEMs, parts providers and a number of other representatives from the automotive industry.

“CIECA’s mission is the exchange of electronic data within the collision repair industry,” said chairman of CIECA’s Calibration Committee and president of operations at LaMettry’s Collision and CIC chairman, Darrell Amberson.

“The Calibration Committee worked diligently to develop and maintain message standards and codes for the industry in regard to the calibration process and properly documenting all of the procedures.”
