Toronto, Ontario — October 12, 2018 — Looking for employment within the automotive industry just got a little bit easier, thanks to the new AutoConnex.ca website which consolidates job profiles, provides training, and even forecasts upcoming positions.

The Automotive Industries Association (AIA) and the Government of Canada made the announcement on Friday morning in Thunder Bay about the launch of this exciting new tool for those involved, or looking to get involved in the auto industry.

The website is marketing itself as a one-stop hub of information for those in the automotive industry who are actively seeking employment. AutoConnex will act as the place to go when searching for regional job forecasts, employment profiles or accessing educational resources including a list of trade schools across Canada.

The goal behind creating this tool is to try and help diversify the industry, and help individuals entering see what their best options are in terms of a career.

“The aftermarket industry faces a perception problem. But it is backwards thinking to say that this industry isn’t for women, or isn’t for smart people. I believe AutoConnex will solve the perception problem,” said Canada’s Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Labour Patty Hajdu on twitter on behalf of the AIA.

AutoConnex will also have the ability to supply stakeholders with a more comprehensive understanding of the industry, which can be used to make informed decisions in a number of ways including policy development, and strategic hiring.

“AIA Canada is grateful for the funding provided by Employment and Social Development Canada to implement this game-changing tool for the aftermarket industry. AutoConnex is not just a website, it is a movement to change the image of the industry. We look forward to diversifying the industry and attracting individuals from all backgrounds to consider a rewarding career in the aftermarket.  As an industry association, we regularly receive requests for information on the labour market from government organizations and the media. Today, we celebrate the launch of a tool that will play a major role in bridging the current labour gap,” said Jean-François Champagne, president of AIA Canada.
