Toronto, Ontario -- August 8, 2019 -- From a man who wouldn't let a major collision ruin his epic heist to a driver who's racing outfit turned out to be just his birthday suit, Collision Repair has got you covered on the top three weirdest and wildest stories in the automotive industry this week.
Citizens enjoying their morning in Montreal earlier this week witnessed a pretty shocking collision when the driver miraculously survived crashing his stolen vehicle before taking off to steal another.
At around 5:30 a.m. on August 5, a 31-year-old man was waiting for a light to turn green when he was forcibly ejected from his car and a 35-year-old hijacker hopped in the front seat.
Taking off down St-Urbain street, the thief lost control of the vehicle, crashing head-on into the Desjardins Center.
Although the entire front end of the vehicle was crushed, the driver's spirits certainly weren't.
As witnesses worked to help the injured man out of the vehicle, he got a second wind of GTA-energy and took off, attempting to hijack a second car.
Thankfully, the same witnesses that once fought to assist the man out of his vehicle apprehended him from entering a new one, and police arrived shortly just in case he was motivated to steal a third.
Missouri police were called to the scene of a very bizarre crash when a woman's missing truck was discovered on fire on a stranger's front lawn next to a stark naked man.
On the morning of July 24, a 30-year-old gentleman decided to take a running 1988 Chevrolet Truck he discovered out for a test drive. Down the highway, Backwards. Buck naked.
It was only moments after the owner of the truck, (a young woman who has remained nameless) realized her vehicle was missing when she and the entire neighbourhood heard a loud boom, less than half a mile away.
When the woman discovered who had crashed her vehicle, she recognized the thief right away.
"She saw a gentleman walking up the street [earlier that morning],” Gerald McCauley, a friend of the truck’s owner had stated. “She sees his head, and then she sees he's not wearing a shirt, and then she sees he's not wearing anything. And he said ‘Good morning’ to her and just kept on walking.”
Despite his man's bizarre politeness, he did not carry the same calm and neighbourly demeanor on the road.
He managed to clip two cars before crashing onto a front lawn and completely crumpling the car, igniting a substantial fire.
Unsurprisingly, the man has sustained some minor injuries from the crash, and authorities are still trying to determine what to charge him with.
Don't Leave Me Hangin'
A bizarre collision earlier this week left one driver's car dangling off a telephone wire in Southern California.
At around 7:20 p.m. on August 3, the California Highway Patrol received a phone call that a white Volkswagen had ended up on the wrong side of a telephone pole.
When the team arrived, they saw a small white car balancing on the wire, with no passengers inside.
According to Officer Joel Asmussen, the driver “had a passenger in his vehicle, he was taking her home, and basically, he realized he was about to miss the turnoff, applied the brakes, swerved to the right and went up that cable.”
The driver and his lady friend escaped unscathed however locals have reported on Facebook that this isn't the young drivers first incident and that his insurance rates — much like his little white Volkwagen— must be "way up there."
