Toronto, Ontario -- August 6, 2019 -- For years, the auto repair industry has faced prejudice.
Despite its calculated certification programs, high standards from OEMs and strict health and safety regulations, some still can't shake their negative perception of "dirty work" in the industry.
The Automotive Service Association (ASA) has launched a contest to combat this association, by asking collision repair facilities pictures of their cleanest, brightest, and best auto bay areas in their "Best Bay Area" competition.
In partnership with AutoInc., ASA began asking for submissions earlier this week. Running through until Aug. 31, the winner will be announced on Sept. 9.
“Our first contest was a major success,” stated ASA executive director Ray Fisher. “We expect this one to be equally or more successful.”
ASA is looking for shops that are clean, bright, and "shine a positive light on the industry" according to ASA's marketing and communications director, Leona Dalavai Scott.
Earlier this year, ASA ran a competition for Canadian shops with the best waiting room areas following a study that revealed 56 percent of millennials would rather clean their whole home than spend time waiting at a dealership or auto shop
“We are always excited when we can honour those in the auto repair industry who are doing great things,” said a representative from ASA.
Interested shops can apply online with their photos, and a brief description of their shop.
