Prince Edward Island had the lowest average rental times in Canada in the final quarter of 2015, according to data gathered by Enterprise Rent-A-Car. Alberta had the highest.

Toronto, Ontario -- February 25, 2016 -- Repairers in Prince Edward Island might be the fastest in Canada at turning work around, based on data from Enterprise Rent-A-Car. The company has just released its fourth quarter length of replacement rental (LOR) data.

Enterprises' length of rental data is often considered a proxy for repair time. It’s gathered by Enterprise’Automated Rental Management System (ARMS) which tracks the length of time a replacement vehicle is rented to collision centre customers. In general, the data shows an average decrease across Canada. Rental times dropped a total of 0.1 days to an average of 10.9 days compared to LOR data from the same period in 2014.

Prince Edward Island had the lowest average time, with just 8.2 days. This matches the province’s LOR data from Q4 2014. Quebec was the next lowest at 9.3 days, an increase of 0.2 days over the same period in 2014. New Brunswick saw an increase of 0.2 days as well, clocking in at an average LOR of 9.9 days. Among the private insurance provinces, Alberta had the highest LOR at an average of 12 days for Q4 2015, but this is a decrease of one full day from the previous year. Ontario and Nova Scotia had the next highest average LOR, coming in at 10.6 and 10.5 days respectively. This is also the first Q4 in the last five years that Nova Scotia’s LOR was over ten days. Newfoundland and Labrador had an average LOR of 11.6 days for Q4 2015.

Looking to the public insurance provinces of British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, we find Saskatchewan with the highest average LOR at 12.1. British Columbia and Manitoba both had an average LOR of 9.4 for Q4 2015.

Enterprise began sharing length of rental information with collision repair centres six years ago in an effort to highlight below-market-average cycle times and provide critical performance data for consistent industry-wide comparisons.
