Hamilton, Ontario -- October 30, 2015 -- CARSTAR Collision and Glass Centres, in partnership with the Ottawa REDBLACKS, came together this football season to refurbish and donate a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan to a local youth football team as part of the inaugural CARSTAR #IHeartFootball program.

From over a dozen submissions stating why they needed or deserved to receive a donated van, CARSTAR selected the East Ottawa Generals as this year’s recipient. The van was presented to coach Mark Quinn and East Ottawa Generals team representatives October 28 at CARSTAR’s Kanata location on Robertson Road.

“The van will make a huge difference to our team” says Quinn. “Even though I’ll keep driving the kids and equipment around, having our own van will mean we can put the money into the kids and not vehicles.”

“We wish we had the resources to donate a vehicle to every team that entered," says CARSTAR's Regional Manager Collin Welsh. "To see how these vehicles make an impact in the lives of young athletes is inspiring. He’s (Quinn) known to regularly drive players who wouldn’t be able to make team events….how could we not help out a guy who is so committed to the future of these young players?”

The CARSTAR #IHeartFootball program celebrates the positive effects of football in the community and young lives.

This van was the fifth that CARSTAR has donated to local Ottawa charities in the last year. As part of CARTSAR’s ongoing "Community Power Play" recent recipients have included The Ottawa Senators Foundation, Ottawa Boys and Girls Club and Ottawa Community Housing. They have also donated a vehicle to a family who quite simply needed a hand up from trying times.
