Oakville, Ontario -- September 14, 2015 -- Assured Automotive held its annual charity golf tournament this past Thursday. The event raised money for the Michael “Pinball” Clemons Foundation, but it also provided a chance to mark the 10th anniversary of Assured Automotive.

The industry turned out to show its support, with 146 golfers taking part in the tourney. Players hit the links at the Glen Abbey golf club in Oakville.

“The course hosted the Canadian Open again this year. Everyone was happy to play the same holes as the pros,” says Des Browne, Director of Insurance and Client Relations at Assured Automotive. “We were slightly over capacity. It was a full boat and a gorgeous day. The best weather of the week.”

The company holds the tournament annually. Over the last eight years the tourney has supported the Michael “Pinball” Clemons Foundation, which raises money for organizations like Free the Children, Habitat for Humanity, the George Brown Scholarship Program and Sky’s the Limit. Browne suggested the event has raised $100,000 for the organization over eight years. “We raised another $15,000 this year. It’s nice to be able to give back,” said Browne.

Jennifer Branco attended from the Foundation. “She was very well-spoken. She spoke eloquently about what the foundation is about and what it’s doing” says Browne. Of course Michael Clemens stopped by and addressed the crowd as well. “Everyone loves him. He’s so positive. We’re extremely fortunate to be involved with an incredible foundation.”

This year featured an extra event as the company is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. A video montage played during the dinner festivities highlighted the efforts of Des D'Silva, Tony Canade, Tony Raposo, Keith D’Silva and Rodney D’Silva in starting the company. This is the group that came together to create Assured Automotive out of the predecessor companies. Over the past ten years the company has enjoyed great success.

“This year marks ten years of the Assured brand. So we took some time in the agenda after the golf to recognize the five founding members of Assured. These are the five starters. I compare them to the starting five of the '80s-era Boston Celtics. Teams become winners as a result of effective leadership,” says Browne. “There has been a lot of sacrifice and commitment to family that comes along with starting a business. People look at them now and think they’re doing great. But there’s a lot of blood sweat and tears that goes into starting a business like this. They are the catalysts that have enabled us to do what we do.”
