Carrossier ProColor, partners to hold open water race circuit

Laval, Quebec -- July 9, 2015 -- The Carrossier ProColor network has partnered with directors of the Traversée internationale du lac St-Jean, lac Memphrémagog and lac Mégantic to create the Coupe Espoir Canada Carrossier ProColor — a new open water race circuit for athletes aged 15 to 26.

“The inauguration of this circuit stems from the joint desire to offer young swimmers the opportunity of accomplishing longer distances with race conditions similar to those of the International Swimming Federation’s (FINA) competitions,” explained the directors of the three organizations behind the project.

The Coupe Espoir Canada Carrossier ProColor will feature three open water swimming events, including a 10 km at lac St-Jean on July 24, a 10 km at lac Memphrémagog on July 31 and a 7 km at lac Mégantic on August 7. Points will be awarded according to the ranking of swimmers that finished within the regulatory time.

Swimmers who have accumulated the most points by the end of the season will share prizes amounting to $5,000. In both women's and men's categories, the first place winner will receive $1,200, the runner up will walk away with $800, and $500 will be awarded to those coming in third place.

To be eligible, athletes must have earned points in at least two of the three competitions. Prizes will be awarded during the Québec Swimming Federation (FNQ) Gala, held in Saint-Sauveur on October 3, 2015.

“Carrossier ProColor is extremely proud to partner with professional organizations such as those of the three Traversées for the establishment of the Coupe Espoir Canada," says Michel Charbonneau, VP of Sales and Marketing, PBE Division of Uni-Select and Carrossier ProColor spokesman. "We are also thrilled to contribute to the development of our national open water succession."
