New subscription services on vehicles now offered in Canada

By CRM Staff

Toronto, Ontario–July 31, 2018–Canadian drivers can now subscribe new vehicles as an alternative to leasing or financing, CBC News reported.

AutoOne launched their new subscription services recently in Toronto, Vancouver and Halifax.

These types of subscription services have been widely used in the U.S. and Europe.

Flexdrive is one of the service outlets in the U.S. that has a total of 10,000 subscribers, with that number expected to rise in the near future.

Similar to the concept of Netflix, the subscription services work with a catalogue of vehicles found on an app or website platform. The subscriptions can last anywhere from as little as a week, or as long as the driver desires.

The fee’s can be as cheap as $400 per month, in what is seen as the perfect service for the younger generation not seeking any long term commitments. But there are said to be downsides to the service.

Although the upfront cost seems less, in the long–run, the monthly subscription fees are higher than the overall costs of leasing or financing a vehicle. There is also the fact that some people like to have full ownership over their vehicle.

Either way, there are definitely advancements being made to make driving more accessible for all generations.
