Montreal Auto Show ‘more than a new car exhibition’

Montreal, Quebec — January 27, 2014 — The 46th Edition of the Montreal International Auto Show (MIAS) has officially closed its doors after proudly welcoming 200,753 visitors, between January 17 and 26 at the Palais des congrès de Montréal.

2014 MIAS President, Stéphane Guilbault, is proud of the show and mentioned that the Auto Show is more than a new-car exhibition; it is a must see event in Montreal, with an extensive selection of vehicles, as well as special features and activities as one would not see anywhere  else.

Electric and Hybrid test drives were highly popular for a second year in a row, with 1708 test drives held during the 10 days. The test drives were organized by CAA-Québec in collaboration with MIAS and ministère des ressources naturelles. The positive response established once again that Quebecers are interested and open to adopt these new technologies.

The Performance Zone presented by Volkswagen, was extravagant and featured amazing creations and introduced visitors to this wonderland of unusual cars. Over 40 cars were displayed in an incredible atmosphere. This special feature brings a great and refreshing energy to the MIAS.

47 Canadian and one North American unveilings made their debut during press day. Also, several prototypes and concept cars were presented, positioning the show as real innovation platform for the auto industry.

The Kia Kids Zone was once again a great opportunity for parents to keep their children entertained while they visited the MIAS. The children had a host of activities such as: painting, colouring and having their faces painted.

The Auto Show, Héma-Québec and CTV Montreal were proud to be associated for the 30th annual blood drive. 695 generous blood donors stopped by to give their precious gift of life. We wish to extend our deepest thanks to all donors and to everyone who contributed to the phenomenal success of this year’s blood drive. Together, we help save lives!

The 10th Charity Preview evening featured comedian Rémi-Pierre Paquin, who welcomed 4,500 guests enjoying the Auto Show’s VIP access. The event raised $641,759 to benefit six worthy causes within the Greater Montreal’s medical community: Fondation du CHUM, Montréal Sacré-Coeur Hospital Foundation, Pierre-Boucher Hospital Foundation, Santa Cabrini Hospital Foundation, Montreal Heart Institute Foundation and St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation. Since it premiered back in January of 2005, the event has raised more than $4 million for various foundations of the Greater Montreal’s health care community.

The Montreal International Auto Show, organized by the Montreal Automobile Dealers Corporation, was presented by Desjardins Insurance in collaboration with The Gazette.
