Intercontinental Information: Event agenda released for IBIS China 2019

Shanghai, China — This year’s International Bodyshop Industry Symposium (IBIS) China agenda has been released and will feature a day chock-full of information sessions led by notable members of the collision repair industry.

IBIS China 2019, to be held on Dec. 4 at Shanghai’s National Exhibition and Convention Center, is a global conference and networking opportunity for collision industry leaders and influencers. Since its inception in 2001, IBIS has delivered thought-leading presentations on a wide range of issues that receive positive feedback from delegates. IBIS hosts local forum events, larger regional conferences and a yearly global summit to look at the present and future opportunities and challenges facing the collision repair industry.

The event will open at 9:30 a.m. with a brief welcoming address from Jason Moseley, CEO of IBIS. Moseley will then deliver an in-depth analysis of the global collision market trends based on the knowledge and insight IBIS has gained from its operating markets. The talk will consider the challenges, dynamics and interplay between the key players in the industry, including repairers, insurers and OEMs. It will also outline how the latest technological advancements are impact and influencing our industry as a whole.

Nikos Peratis from Road China Assistance will then speak about the current mobility climate in China as well as the challenges, opportunities and the future of road travel.

After a brief coffee break, conference-goers will return to an informational session on optimizing data processing in collision repair claims, where they will explore how data can be used to make more accurate decisions in the collision repair chain. The session will also touch on new technologies that are allowing the industry to move toward touchless claims processes.

An hour-long lunch break will be followed by a presentation by Sean Carey from SCG Management Consultants. Carey will explore the technologies currently enabling the connected car from the standpoint of the global collision repair industry. He will discuss the evolution of autonomous vehicles, the complexity of ADAS systems from an insurance and repair perspective, the expectations of the consumer and how the industry needs to adapt accordingly.

At 2:15 p.m. local time, Sawyer Gong and Eric Devos, director and president of GiPA China, respectively, will lead a session on keeping pace ever-evolving vehicle technology. The pair will look at how the problem is presenting itself in China and how the solution there compares to how global markets are adapting to the scale of change.

Another session at 3 p.m. will focus on the new and evolving approaches to processes, parts, training and equipment and how these changes affect better quality repairs.

A final session detailing the skills gap in the collision repair industry will close the conference. Led by a speaker from WorldSkills and a panel of industry experts, the discussion-based session will present solutions to the incoming gap in new talent entering the industry and how to turn this negative situation into a positive one.

All sessions will be conducted largely in English with simultaneous interpretation into Mandarin.
