CharterUP Launches Shuttle Service to Support Safer Employee Commutes

With new charter bus service, employers can offer employees private, controlled commuting option

ATLANTA–(BUSINESS WIRE)–CharterUP today unveiled a first-of-its-kind service to help companies seamlessly charter buses that can bring their employees back to work safely. Building on CharterUP’s foundational bus reservation platform, this new offering allows organizations to request and book private shuttles that support a variety of safety parameters, including social distancing requirements, face masks and temperature checks. Unlike public transit or traditional ridesharing services, this model fosters controlled commuting environments so employees can get to work as safely as possible as the economy re-opens and the country adjusts to a post-COVID-19 era.

CharterUP was founded in 2017 with a mission to enhance end-to-end charter bus experiences, from reservations to rides. The company’s dynamic platform offers real-time insight into availability, dispatch and location information – enabling customers to not only secure buses within seconds, but also monitor rider status throughout their journeys. With more than 1,000 private bus operators using the platform, CharterUP offers organizations compatible rider options at the most competitive prices.

Since the onset of COVID-19, CharterUP has seen a 1200% increase in demand for corporate shuttles. Not only does CharterUP offer a safer, more controlled commuting option for employees, it also shortens travel time. By leveraging GPS, traffic and ridership data, CharterUP’s AI-enabled platform continuously optimizes routes to ensure riders get from Point A to Point B as efficiently as possible. More than 500 U.S. companies, including Walmart, Spirit Airlines and FedEx, rely on CharterUP for their bus charters.

“At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, we began seeing a surge of requests from organizations that needed a safe and reliable way to transport essential workers to their job sites,” said Armir Harris, CEO and Co-Founder, CharterUP. “We immediately saw an opportunity to create a designated transport service that could foster safety best practices at scale as non-essential workers returned to work – whether ‘work’ is an urban office tower or sprawling manufacturing plant. By offering employees a safe and reliable commuting option, employers can help mitigate the spread of infection while simultaneously promoting sustainable, eco-friendly mobility.”

CharterUP’s new offering, available today, includes:

  • Route optimization functionality to assist with employee pick-up and drop-off, as well as coordinated travel to the office. Times and virtual stops are dynamic and can be modified at any time.
  • A web app for riders so they can secure real-time insight into bus location and status, as well as report on any safety violations.
  • Oversight of rider safety measures based on employer preferences; measures can include guidelines for social distancing, facial masks and temperature checks.

CharterUP customer Arshad Siddiqqui, President and CEO, Paraza Pharma, said, “As a CharterUP customer, I immediately reached out to see how the company could help us develop a commuting option for our research staff. The team came back right away with a transport plan that would foster proper social distancing and get our essential employees to the facilities to work. This has been a critical solution for us, and I believe CharterUP’s model is setting a new standard for how companies commute.”

Grant Hubsher, an emergency medicine attending physician at New York Methodist Hospital, said, “As an emergency medicine physician in NYC, time is my most valuable resource in our fight against COVID-19. CharterUP has been key in helping save time with my commute. Their technology is seamless, reliable and, most importantly, has saved me valuable time so I can focus on my mission to save lives.”
