CARSTAR and Ottawa Senators Foundation to launch Community Power Play

Rick Yates of CARSTAR, Ottawa Senators’ mascot Spartacat, Danielle Robinson of the Ottawa Senators Foundation and radio personality Stuntman Stu announce the launch of CARSTAR Community Power Play.

Ottawa, Ontario — November 11, 2013 — CARSTAR Collision and Glass Centres has announced a new partnership with the Ottawa Senators Foundation: the CARSTAR Community Power Play Campaign.

The initiative will see CARSTAR, through the Ottawa Senators Foundation, donate four refurbished vehicles to three local charitable organizations and one deserving family in need. The initiative helps mark the opening of three new franchise locations in the National Capital Region, joining two stores already servicing the region.
The donated vehicles will provide the Ottawa Community Housing Foundation, the Boys & Girls Club of Ottawa, the Ottawa Senators Foundation and one local Ottawa family in need of transportation with additional mobility. The local charities will use these vehicles to provide essential services to their clientele across the National Capital Region. Additionally, CARSTAR and its local owners will lead efforts to raise $30,000, which will be donated to the Ottawa Senators Foundation. These funds will support the ongoing work of the Ottawa Senators Foundation to provide life-enriching access and opportunities for the more than 1 in 5 children and youth in the community that otherwise do not have resources or ability to access social recreation and education programs.
“CARSTAR and our store owners are invested in every community where we do business and we are extremely excited for the chance to partner with an esteemed organization that will help us in our efforts to give back to the community while we expand our presence in the National Capital Region,” said Chris Moore, National Marketing Manager for CARSTAR.  â€œOur local Ottawa area franchise partners are not only big fans of Senators hockey but are equally inspired by the work of the Ottawa Senators Foundation and the CARSTAR Community Power Play is the perfect opportunity to continue our proud history of giving back.”
CARSTAR’s five stores in the Greater Ottawa Region are thrilled to give back to the community in which their employees live and work and the Ottawa Senators Foundation proved the perfect partner to do so. Over the past 20 years, the Foundation has raised over $75 million to support community initiatives in eastern Ontario and western Quebec.
“CARSTAR Collision and Glass has a sterling reputation when it comes to community support. We are excited to partner with them as they expand further into this community.” said Danielle Robinson, president, Ottawa Senators Foundation. “The CARSTAR Community Power Play enables the Ottawa Senators Foundation and several of its local supported organizations and programs to reach even more children and their families.”
This program builds on CARSTAR’s history of successful grassroots philanthropic efforts, including a decade of raising funds for Cystic Fibrosis Canada through its successful Soaps It Up National Car Wash Campaign. Many of the parts used in the repair of the vehicles will be donated by LKQ Corporation.
Customers can donate at all CARSTAR locations in the Greater Capital Region through donation boxes in store and through envelopes available to consumers when picking up their newly repaired vehicles.
