Laval, Quebec — June 9, 2014 — The 60th edition of the Traversée internationale du lac Saint-Jean will be fully funded, thanks in no small part to Carrossier ProColor and Michel Charbonneau. Charbonneau is the Vice-President of Sales at Uni-Select Canada and responsible for the Carrossier ProColor business unit, and is also the Honourary President of the Traversée.
The Traversée internationale du lac St-Jean is a 32 km open water swimming race between Péribonka and Roberval. The marathon marks 60 consecutive years of presentation this year, making it one of the most long-lived sports events in North America and around the world.
Results of the fundraising campaign for the upcoming Traversée internationale du lac Saint-Jean, to be held in July, were revealed at a gala event attended by some 600 people on Saturday, May 3 at the Hôtel Château Roberval. Charbonneau announced that the goal of $225,000 had been reached.
“The results are remarkable,†he proudly said. “But I must mention that I was able to count on a wonderful local fundraising team!â€
Charbonneau’s role in regards to fundraising was to approach businesses in Québec and elsewhere to raise funds for the Traversée.
“Carrossier ProColor is a business that proudly takes part in home-grown events. I am pleased to contribute towards the success of the Traversée internationale du lac Saint-Jean, and I am extremely grateful to the Carrossier ProColor repair centres and our business partners for their help in achieving our fundraising objective for this event, which provides significant benefits for the region in addition to showcasing it around the world,†said Charbonneau.
Besides learning about the fundraising results, guests were treated to a number of surprises, including the announcement that Québec swimmer Philippe Guertin, a Canadian hopeful for the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, would be competing, and that artists such as Marc Dupré, Hugo Lapointe and Brigitte Boisjoli would be performing.
By choosing to support the Traversée, a major summer event for the Saguenay—Lac-Saint-Jean region, Carrossier ProColor is demonstrating its commitment to Quebec society, amateur sport and regional development.
The Traversée internationale du lac Saint-Jean will take place in Roberval from Saturday, July 19 to Sunday, July 27, 2014.
