INTEGRATED CAR PART PRO (IPRO) CANADA
A Billion Dollar View into the Canadian Collision Parts Marketplace
In 2025, Integrated Car Part Pro (iPro) Canada processed more than a billion dollars in parts from repairable estimates! And when we look at the data from those estimates, they reveal a significant shift in the collision repair industry: recycled parts utilization is increasing, and recycled parts are now delivering the most savings of any part type for all estimates run through iPro (regardless of whether the parts were sourced from iPro or from within the estimating system).

The percentage of savings per claim off the OEM price is a meaningful KPI to measure the impact of each part type (because all parts are initially added to the estimate as OEM parts with OEM prices). iPro Analytics measures the percentage of savings off the OEM price for all parts that are added to the estimate (iPro parts and/or any parts sourced in the estimating system, earlier in the workflow). (iPro is typically launched after parts are sourced in the estimating system.)
iPro is an alternate parts marketplace by Car- Part.com. It’s integrated directly into the Mitchell Cloud Estimating (MCE) Parts Portal. Estimators use iPro to source alternate parts, and iPro easily writes them back to the estimate while keeping the correct labor times intact. iPro addresses the key challenges that have previously hindered recycled parts utilization. iPro’s patented supply chain and real-time verification technologies, plus Car-Part Interchange-based assembly technology, result in accurate sourcing of quality recycled assemblies. Recycled assemblies such as doors, tailgates, and bumpers can save significant money when compared to buying the individual components. iPro connects the individual components (listed on an estimate), to the costeffective assemblies (available from recyclers through iPro). iPro is also used to accurately source recycled, aftermarket, OEM Discount, and remanufactured individual components.
With iPro, we’ve been systematically addressing historic pain points associated with buying recycled parts. You can see the impact on the Recycled Part Type (% of OEM Savings/Claim) chart (which is based on marketplace iPro Analytics data)! Car- Part manages its supply chain’s performance: if parts or service issues arise, we work with the parts suppliers and estimators to resolve conflicts (and, if necessary, remove unsatisfactory suppliers from the iPro marketplace). Car-Part’s certifications highlight quality sellers, and our enhanced supply chain technology provides the largest parts supply chain in Canada. We work continually with recycled parts sellers to enhance and maintain parts data.
Recycled parts are having an outsized impact in the iPro marketplace, as a result! In the 2025 Canada iPro market, the estimates averaged 7.2% recycled parts utilization (when writing back to the estimating system).
And those 7.2% recycled parts delivered 48.5% of the total savings off OEM prices, more than any other part type! For comparison, aftermarket parts contributed 41.8% of the savings, while consisting of nearly one quarter of the parts on the estimates. It doesn’t take much - even a modest increase in recycled parts utilization meaningfully moves the needle on overall collision severity. In Canada, major insurance carriers are taking notice of the substantial impact of recycled parts, and they’re increasing their utilization.
iPro’s 11.4% average recycled part dollars is above the industry average, and 4 Canadian insurance companies are achieving more than 16% recycled part dollars in iPro. In 2025, the top 10 iPro Canadian insurance companies are all achieving more than 11% iPro recycled part dollars, which is higher than the average percentage achieved in US Estimating Systems (2024). (The 2025 US estimating system recycled parts dollar percentages were not published at the time this article was written.)
Cost savings represent one part of the value proposition of recycled parts, but the environmental impact of recycled parts is also significant. As the recycled parts percentage has increased in iPro, so have the corresponding CO2e savings. For the most popular recycled parts, Car-Part obtains estimated CO2e savings information from the Ontario Automotive Recyclers Association (OARA) and enhances it.
We can see how much of the estimates’ possible CO2e savings are actually captured (by selecting recycled parts in iPro) in the Estimated CO2e Savings Utilization graph. We see that the impact has more than doubled in iPro in the last 3 years!

The data shows an amazing story: recycled parts constitute a small percentage of estimate parts, but provide the most savings per claim. As recycled parts become easier to source and confidence grows, their use is increasing and the estimate savings are increasing. Recycled parts are green for the wallet and green for the environment!
