Hamilton, Ontario -- A group of young leaders-in-training received a hands-on guided tour of CARSTAR Toronto St. Clair earlier this month.

In collaboration with the Toronto Raptors, the banner welcomed 30 youths aged between 16 and 20 to the midtown Toronto location in order to provide them with insight into the inner workings of a cutting-edge collision repair facility.

The young people were participants in the MLSE LaunchPad's Leaders-in-Training Program. The LIT program provides full-time summer employment and employment training to young people in the city.

Through events including the visit to CARSTAR Toronto St. Clair, the program aims to inspire its participants to consider rewarding career paths, including those in the collision repair industry.

During the tour, the visitors gained firsthand exposure to a wide range of career opportunities, from auto body and paint technicians, to estimators, customer service reps and business managers.

According to one of the CARSTAR Toronto St. Clair technicians who participated in the event, the visitors were particularly intrigued by demonstrations for the shop's 3D measuring system and within its spray booth.

“It’s important for young people to learn about careers in collision repair because it opens their eyes to opportunities they might not have considered," he added.

"This industry isn’t just about fixing cars, it’s about problem solving, craftsmanship, and working as a team. When students see that firsthand, it can spark something in them and show them there's a future here where they can really thrive.”

“Programs like LIT are all about building confidence and leadership in youth,” said Collin Welsh, senior director of the Ontario region for CARSTAR Canada.

“We’re proud to open our doors and offer real-world exposure to the next generation. Our hope is that these young leaders see the potential within the collision repair industry — not just as a job, but as a career they can grow in.”

“It was a privilege to host such an inspiring group,” added Frank Abate, owner of CARSTAR Toronto St. Clair. “Their curiosity, energy and questions reminded us why investing in youth is so critical to the future of our industry. We’re proud to be part of that journey.”
